Spyshots: 2014 Mercedes S-Class AMG

Mercedes has moved on from the regular models and is now believed to be working on the more powerful AMG versions of the S-Class. A prototype for the next generation W222 luxury brute has just been snagged by our photographers as it was getting ready for some track testing.

However, the prototype is not yet fitted with the garnish that makes it an AMG. It has the same exhaust you would expect on a regular S450, but it does offer us a glimpse at the side skirts, bigger brakes and AMG bumper.

When it enters production, the S-Class AMG will also have flared wheel arches and a number of other bespoke touches.

The AMG division will offer at least two S-Class models. One will be the S63 AMG, powered by the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, and the other will be the full S65 AMG, offering a 6.0-liter V12 with 630 horsepower or more.

Of course, by the time it comes out, we could be looking at the first diesel-powered AMGs as well.
