Another European car manufacturer goes after law enforcement agencies in the UK, after Vauxhall and Jaguar. This time, Czech manufacturer Skoda will try a new approach, as they will be attending the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO-APA) conference in Manchester, on July 8 and 9.
The manufacturer will use the event as a mean to attract attention on its capabilities to meet law-enforcement requirements. Unlike what we were inclined to believe, they will not use a real life vehicle to showcase their know-how, but a... DVD.
"The ever growing Skoda range is proving popular with police forces due to great value for money, practicality and reliability. In the current financial climate Skoda is a compelling choice, which demonstrates a prudent purchase with tax payers’ money,” Martin Burke, Skoda fleet sales chief said in a release.
Skoda is already a police vehicle supplier in the UK. Out of all the cars sold in this segment, over 60 percent of them are Octavia vRS, followed by the Fabia estate and new Superb 3.6 4x4.
If you're wondering why attending this image exercise, you should know the Czech are aiming to transform the upcoming Superb Tourer into a police hit as well. The tourer is expected to come to the UK next February, and the ACPO-APA is the ideal moment to do so.
Why? Well, some 43 local policing authorities from England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be there. In all, some 2,000 decision making police officers..."It is the most influential event in the policing calendar and features speakers from across government," admits Skoda.
