Macaulay Culkin's Sister Dies in Car Accident

Road accidents cause tragedies in the stars' families as well. “Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin lost his sister in a terrible road accident that took place last Tuesday.

It seems that Culkin's 29-year-old sister, Dakota was walking in L.A. when she stepped off the curb and the next moment, was struck by a moving vehicle. The driver didn't try to avoid responsibility, on the contrary, he stopped to help and waited until authorities arrived. Dakota was taken to the UCLA Medical Center but due to the severe injuries, she died on Thursday morning.

The unfortunate accident happened a little before 11 p.m. according to the L.A. Police Department. Culkin's sister stepped just in front of a vehicle which was going North on Lincoln Blvd. near Jefferson Way in West L.A. Following the incident, Dakota suffered massive head trauma and doctors could do nothing to save her.

The incident is reportedly now being investigating by the Los Angeles Police Department but it was determined that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that he didn't commit any crime. Consequently, no arrests have been made.

Dakota Culkin was "a real sweetheart, a really good kid" says Dana Schroeder, a director who recently worked with the one-time art production assistant on an independent film “Lost Soul”.

"Dakota was very humble. She didn't want to get in front of the cameras, she wanted to work behind the scenes" People quoted her as saying.

A close friend of her, Andrea Poe, aged 35 who worked alongside her on the film confessed she was “shy at first, but eventually she'd open up. She was actually quite hilarious, witty, and down to earth." He added: "All of us who knew and worked with Dakota are in deep shock. It was a total freak accident."
