One of the nice things about the 2-13 BMW R1200GS is the pannier and top case system developed by Spanish company Shad.
Not only these cases offer protection against water, but they're also modular and by all means, look very cool. The total volume of the side cases in 68 liters (2.4 cu ft), with 29 L in the left pannier and 39 L in the right one (1.02 cu ft/ 1.37 cu ft ). However, in case you're riding in your home town and don't need all this room, the cases can be easily reduced to 50 l (1.76 cu ft): 20 l left, 30 l right (0.7 cu ft/1.06 cu ft).
This move will decrease the width of the bike by 12 cm (4.7") and the same goes for the top case, too: from 35 to 25 liters (1.23 to 0.88 cu ft). The top case comes with a padded backrest for increased passenger comfort. Shad did not mention any price, but your BMW dealer will be happy to inform you on these accessories.
