The current Toyota Aygo soldiers on with a minor facelift and not enough airbags. It's the product of a collaboration between the Japanese automaker and the French at PSA Peugeot Citroen.
However, it seems that might go at it alone with this second generation model, as the test prototype our spies caught in the wild looks to be a one-make deal.

The Aygo is currently made alongside the C1 and 107 in the TPCA factory in the Czech Republic, built as a 50/50 joint venture with the French.

Not a lot of information is known about the new car, but we expect it to retain the 1.0-liter engine, which Toyota still uses in a variety of small cars.

The test vehicle is still heavily camouflaged, but we think it's visibly bigger than the soon to be outgoing model. Adding rear passenger and cargo space is essential to the success of this city car, as Hyundai's new i10 has set a new benchmark in that area. Obviously, the other big task on this car's to-do list will be a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.
