Sebastien Loeb Looking Forward to F1 Debut, Awaits Offer

Following recent reports that Citroen are willing to allow Sebastien Loeb to do a one-off in the Formula One Championship, the reigning WRC champion once again admitted he looks forward to debuting in the FIA's premier class racing series.

If I have an opportunity to do formula one another time, I will take it,” Loeb was quoted as saying in an interview with The National newspaper.

However, while still fighting to retain his WRC crown ahead of Ford rival Mikko Hirvonen, Loeb admitted his focus remains strictly on rallying for the upcoming month. The Frenchman is currently 5 points behind his Finnish rival with only 2 rounds to go, and will have to score some perfect stage times in both Spain and Great Britain in order to continue his dominance in the championship.

As the Formula One season finale at Abu Dhabi is scheduled a week after the WRC's last event, Citroen confirmed they will clear Loeb for his F1 one-off once an offer will be forwarded by an F1 outfit (most probably Toro Rosso). However, the 5-time WRC champion admitted he is yet to receive an offer for an F1 drive.

For the moment, rumors are going on but I haven't been told anything. I've not been offered anything. We've talked about projects but not one special race in particular,” revealed Loeb.

He was initially linked with a potential drive with the Faenza based team back in mid-July, soon after Sebastien Bourdais was ousted by Toro Rosso from their 2009 lineup. Although naming Jaime Alguersuari as Bourdais' replacement, Toro Rosso never denied wanting to put Loeb in the STR4 for at least one round of the 2009 season.
