After driving the C8 Corvette, the Internet’s favorite mechanic now has the 2020 Toyota Supra on his hands. And before anything, Scotty Kilmer mentions that the Japanese coupe “is not exactly the same as the BMW Z4 roadster.”
Both are made in Austria by Magna Steyr with BMWs engines and an eight-speed automatic from ZF, but the badge and styling certainly are different. However, the 66-year-old mechanic is wrong about forced induction.

After claiming the Supra has a supercharger and the Z4 has two of them, Scotty changes to turbocharger without regard to the differences between these designs. He also mentions the M40i is more powerful, adding toward the end of the review that the 2021 Supra has 382 ponies as well.

The B58 is good for up to 382 horsepower (387 PS) and 369 pound-feet (500 Nm) of torque with a twin-scroll turbo. S58 is how BMW calls its M-specific engine, which has two turbos as Scotty incorrectly said about the B58 mill.

The veteran mechanic “drove it hard” and the 2020 Toyota Supra “handles great at high speeds. Tons of acceleration.” A little later in the video review, Scotty plays with the Sport Mode and makes quite a curious comment. “Now it sounds like a Ferrari,” he said about the six-cylinder motor, which is as ludicrous as it gets. The Prancing Horse made an I6 in 1955 and dropped it that same year, but still, how can one compare a Toyota to a Ferrari?

Well, he’s not the only one. A YouTuber going by the name of Daily Driven Exotics says the C8 Corvette is better than a Ferrari and the “Porshe” 911. Better is a vague word in this application, but still, don’t expect a guy who currently owns an F8 Tributo or a GT3 RS to switch over to the Stingray Z51.

Although he’s not exactly fond of the price tag or the “money pit” serviceability of the GR Supra, Scotty’s overall verdict is a positive one.
