In late April, we told you that Enjoy, a car-sharing company that operates in the Milan and Turin areas, was looking forward to debuting a similar program involving scooters. The scooter-sharing project was started in Milan, Italy, and it generated a huge interest that has quickly overwhelmed the rather squinty offer.
Enjoy has debuted the program with a test fleet of 150 Piaggio MP3 three-wheeled scooters, but the demand was high smashing. Reports mention around 700 rentals in 3-4 days, and no more than 5-6 scooters available at any given time.

The demand for rented scooters proves that a busy city such as Milan truly needed such a vehicle sharing program. The Fiat 500 small-class cars Enjoy currently fields are cool, of course, but Piaggio's MP3 300 LT Business ABS leaning three-wheelers are even more agile and will allow their operators to streak through the slow traffic with more ease.

The Piaggio MP3 scooters have dual cameras and their speed is limited at 90 km/h

For safety reasons, all the red-liveried Enjoy Piaggio MP3 scoots have a top sped limited at 90 km/h (56 mph) and come with dual video cameras facing front and rear. At the same time, each scooter is equipped with a special black box that records the distance, takes care of payment and communication with the Enjoy HQ. The three-wheelers are also offered for rent with two helmets and single-use head protectors for hygiene purposes.

Using the Enjoy scooters costs €0.35 ($0.38) a minute for the first 50 km (31 miles) and €0.35 ($0.38) per kilometer after the 50 km limit. With August being a traditional month for people going on holidays, it will be interesting to see when will Piaggio be able to supplement the fleet. Still, the massive interest in this program is baffling... the good way!
