We've written enough stories about the Toyota Prius to know that, while America hates it like the plague, Japan loves it like apple pie. No, really! This remains the best selling car there, and it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a hybrid.
Looking at the 2016 Prius purely as a car, we find that it rides better than before, thanks to some suspension trickery. If you happen to live in Japan, you can even order an AWD model with an electric motor at the back that gets you out of sticky situations.

The local tuning companies have also exhibited out-of-the-box thinking, as they often turn the Prius into a race car... of sorts. Very few people have tried sticking a V8 into one, but the body design is all there.

The project we are about to show you comes from Rowen International, one of our favorite Japanese tuning companies. Their wolf logo can be found on anything from a Lexus RC F to a BMW Z4. Considering they've presented several versions of the old Prius, we're not surprised to see 2016 getting the Rowen treatment.

It's pretty obvious what's going on here. At the front, we see that the entire front bumper has been changed and features more LED lights than a Christmas tree. We counted six individual elements, plus the two that have been added to the headlights.

Rowen's trademark look includes boxy splitters that can be seen here. They also added side skirts and a diffuser insert for the rear bumper.

Our favorite view of the Rowen-styled Prius is from the back, which closely mirrors the Honda Civic Type R. A gigantic wing has been added to the top of the trunk spoiler. Where the Prius used to have no visible exhaust pipe, now it has four, like a Ferrari, a BMW M car, or that Civic we just mentioned.

Everything is tied together by the pearl white paint and the two-tone alloy wheels, which have a retro vibe about them.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
