Rossi on Stoner: “He Won't Stand Still!”

With only two Grands Prix left in the 2008 championship, most riders are struggling to get a glimpse of late-form that could help them save a disappointing season. More importantly though, the already-crowned champion Valentino Rossi promises a solid performance in both Malaysia and Valencia although he expects good races from his rival Casey Stoner.

All predictions lead to an exciting battle between The Doctor and the Australian and the fact that they have already secured their championship positions do nothing more than to support this idea. If Stoner believes that his past experience on Sepang can help him in the upcoming Grand Prix, Rossi is confident that the good bike configuration represents his “secret” advantage.

“I love Malaysia and I have had some great races there in the past, plus it generally suits our bike very well so with any luck we can look forward to a fun weekend. That said, we know that Casey will be very strong again as well as others so it will no doubt be a good battle!” Rossi told the official MotoGP website.

Rossi is quite familiar with the Malaysian circuit as Yamaha conducted most of their winter tests on the Sepang circuit. “I was quite strong there in the winter and I hope it´s the same again this time, especially since we know a lot more about the tires now,” Rossi explained. “I am looking forward to going to Sepang because we have done quite a bit of testing there with Bridgestone so we have a lot of data – not something we have had for most of this season.”

Some people doubt that Casey Stoner will be 100 percent focused on the upcoming race although he already stated that he's willing to continue the winning streak started in Australia. Moreover, Stoner confirmed that he delayed his wrist surgery in order to start the testings of the 2009-season Ducati motorcycle so it seems like we have to wait a few more days to see what really happens.
