“For sure the 800cc is a more boring bike compared to the 990cc: there's too much electronics. Now, if the electronics work well the bikes become almost perfect and the gaps increase, instead of reduce. I don't think the single-tyre is the solution for this problem. I repeat: the electronics are very sophisticated, the technical evolution is incredible, and next year will be even worse,” admitted Rossi according to Autosport News.
The Italian especially pointed out the Ricardo Tormo circuit as a place where the MotoGP riders have little options in terms of choosing different lines when cornering: “The track is to blame too, because at no point you can take alternative lines, so you end up lining up one behind the other. The track counts for a lot. But tracks like Valencia are not good for the show”.
The Doctor also has a cure: take out all electronic aids so the riders wouldn't have any exterior aid but their God-given talent. “We'd need a smoother power output, to the detriment of power, but the engineers don't even want to hear that! The International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) has already followed FIA's steps on implementing a single tire supplier in the sport starting next year. It's possible that they'll keep this trend in the near future and ban electronic aids from the MotoGP just like their automobile counterparts have done in Formula One at the beginning of this season. Still, there are no information to support this idea any time soon.
