After months of speculation that were foreseeing the change, Ross Brawn finally puts the rumors to rest and steps down from his position as the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Team Principal.
He will formally leave the team on December 31st, handing over his leadership position to Toto Wolf, who will be in charge of business, and Paddy Lowe, who will handle the technical part of the team.
“The most important consideration in my decision to step down from the role as Team Principal was to ensure that the timing was right for the team in order to ensure its future success. The succession planning process that we have implemented during this year means we are now ready to conduct the transition from my current responsibilities to a new leadership team composed of Toto and Paddy.” said Brawn.
He has been in charge of Mercedes-AMG Petronas since 2010, with 2013 being the year in which the Brackley-based team won the most points in the Constructor's Championship.
