The Scion FR-S and Toyota GT 86 have been designed to offer the most fun for their price and they really do that. But in order to make them affordable, the automaker had to cut some corners which might not satisfy everyone.
For example, the exhaust. You buy a sportscar because you need some thrills in your life, otherwise you could have had a Toyota Prius to take you everywhere for a couple dimes each mile. And part of the thrill factor is the exhaust note.

Don't want to be harsh here, but the stock GT 86/FR-S exhaust sounds pretty much like a vacuum cleaner. Not bad for city driving, but if you want to take it out on the country lanes, roads synonymous with this coupe, you want it to sound like a proper car for men.

It would have been awesome for the car to come with an active exhaust system, so you could bypass the muffler and hear more of that 2-liter engine, but that would have been kicked the price up. And that's what Toyota didn't want to happen with his back-to-basics sportscar.

That's why this car is a perfect base for tuning. Toyota is offering you a decent coupe for not that much cash and from here it's your business to make it cooler.

Regarding the exhaust note, there are many part suppliers on the market that are making sport exhaust for the GT 86/FT-S. And if you want to stick with the classics, TRD is offering one that sounds pretty awesome, while you still benefit from the automaker's quality and guaranteed compatibility.

Check the video bellow if you want to hear the TRD sport exhaust in action. We recommend you use some headphones because the POV video here has the audio part recorded with binaural microphones to better simulate the space around.
