After extensive training and special preparation, Porter the pound dog from Auckland, New Zealand, finally drove a Mini around a portion of a racing track, on video. He operated the steering, automatic gearbox shifter, throttle and brake, and was able to start the car, drive it forward, and then turn a corner, all under the watchful eyes of his trainer.
Porter is one of three dogs which were chosen by the SPCA of Auckland to show that rescued dogs are not second-rate, and that they are smart and should be adopted. The other two dogs, Ginny and Monty also underwent the same training, yet Porter was the star of the program, being the quickest learner and the best at it, apparently, as he seems to get a lot more attention than the other two.

Still, a dog, actually driving a car, on its own is really something which should all stop and ponder, as it is not the kind of thing that should be taken lightly - it is a dog, an actual dog, driving a car, an actual car! Watch the other videos here.
