Renault to Change Livery Dramatically in 2009

Renault is set to experience a complete change of livery for the remaining two rounds of the 2009 season, as the team's title sponsor has already announced its withdrawal from the sport at the end of the year. According to some media reports, it seems the Enstone based outfit may debut the newly-liveried R29 from as early as the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Under normal circumstances, a team is not allowed to change livery during a season, as the FIA rules clearly state that it “must remain essentially the same throughout the complete season,” as noted by the GMM news agency. However, if all the Formula One teams agree to it, Renault will be given the go-ahead for the change.

Until now, neither the International Automobile Federation (FIA) nor Renault have announced anything official on the livery rumor.

Dutch banking group ING terminated their sponsorship deal with Renault following the crash-gate earlier this year, and the team reacted during the Japanese Grand Prix 2 weekends ago. For the Suzuka race, the Enstone based team decided to scrap the prominent orange – known to by ING's promotional color – from their drivers' suits.

According to the same news agency, it appears Renault are planning to run on a traditional yellow and black livery for both the Interlagos and Abu Dhabi races. The livery was last used in 2007, when the French manufacturer celebrated 30 years of F1 racing. However, the livery was shown only on the grid during the aforementioned season, as it wasn't raced with.
