Renault UK’s hot vehicle and racing arm has announced that the one-make series will receive a boost, as grid sizes for rounds three and four will see two new drivers entering the game. Former Formula UK racer James Dixon, 20, will drive for team Total Control Racing, while Graham Muholland, 36, will join Darren Wilson in 20Ten Racing’s line-up. This increases the grid size to 17 ahead of the next two rounds, which will take place at Northamptonshire’s Rockingham Motor Speedway on April 24/25.
“I’ve actually not even sat in the Clio before, or even driven a front-wheel-drive race car, so aside from a test this week at Mallory Park I’ve got no experience! That said, I know many of the tracks from my previous racing and I’m confident I can put in a good performance at Rockingham and for the remainder of the season,” said James Dixon, who raced a part season in Formula Renault UK last year with Mark Burdett Motorsport.
“I know Darren Wilson and Simon Hunt at 20Ten Racing from my Stock Hatch days and they invited me to take a test at Mallory Park. It went really well and before I knew it I was racing at Rockingham! This year will be a steep learning curve for me as I’ve never raced on slick tyres before or used a sequential gearbox but I’m really looking forward to it,” said former 750MC Stock Hatch racer Graham Mulholland, who finished fourth in the series last year.
