Red Bull Say Ferrari Are Biggest Rivals Now

Ferrari have scored the most points out of any other team in Formula One over the past 4 races, and this is clearly a strong argument that the Scuderia means business in the remaining rounds of the 2010 campaign. In fact, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner believes Ferrari, and not McLaren, will be their main rivals for the title this season.

Despite fighting against McLaren Mercedes for the leading spot in the constructors' classification for most of the season, Horner believes Ferrari hold the momentum now, while Fernando Alonso is clearly the most feared rival in the drivers' title race. The Spaniard won 2 of the last 4 races and now drives a very competitive Ferrari F10, not to mention the fact that he benefits from the help of teammate Felipe Massa.

I see Ferrari as the biggest threat, to be honest. They have a quick car, and arguably they have been the closest to us since halfway through the year. They had a bit of bad luck in the middle of the year (...) but they were quick again in Monza, so arguably I see Ferrari as the biggest challenge,” said Horner.

Nevertheless, despite reckoning that Alonso will undoubtedly enjoy the help of his teammate in the remaining 5 rounds of the 2010 campaign, Horner insisted that both Mark Webber (current leader in the standings) and Sebastian Vettel will be given green light to fight for the title until the end, no matter what.

They (Ferrari) are playing a slightly different game. But ultimately we have to beat everybody. I would rather have two guys competing for the championship than one, and we will continue to support our guys as fairly and equally as we possibly can,” added the Brit.

In the meantime, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton also sees Ferrari, and particularly Fernando Alonso, as his main rivals for the title, forgetting that it is still Mark Webber and Red Bull who are leading the championship.

Ferrari have really stepped up their game and seem to be very competitive at the moment. I am assuming that they are our closest rival at the moment,” said Ham, prior to the Singapore GP.
