Red Bull Not Panicking Over Reliability Issues Just Yet

The general view on how things are going in today's Formula One is that Red Bull Racing are the team to beat. They have been quick in testing, they scored two out of two pole positions this season and they have taken commanding leads in both races this season, until some engine or mechanical issues have ruined it for them.

While Sebastian Vettel expressed public his frustration to only sit on 12 points after two races – when he was supposed to top the standings with 50 points – Red Bull's boss Christian Horner insisted that his team is not panicking amid recent reliability issues. Just as a reminder, Vettel's RB6 suffered from an engine problem in Bahrain – when a failed spark plug caused a drop in engine power – and from a wheel mounting failure due to a loose wheel nut in Australia.

Don't panic – it is a long season. We know we have got a fast car and I would far rather have a fast car than a slow car. We've had two pole positions. We should have been sitting on 50 points and Sebastian is sitting on 12. But there is still a long way to go and the season will have many different twists and turns,” insisted Horner.

While admitting frustration not only from Vettel but only from the entire team, Horner added that everybody at the factory needs to understand the problems that have occurred in recent grand prix weekends and grow stronger for the future. However, the Red Bull manager insisted that the positive aspect of all is that the only dominant car of the field this year (at least so far) has been the RB6.

We haven't had one driver go out and dominate, the dominant car so far is ours and it is important that in one race's time we score some big points,” said Horner.

After two races, Red Bull Racing are currently sitting 5th overall in the manufacturers classification, no less than 52 points behind leaders Ferrari.
