Following in the footsteps of the new F15 X5, the refreshed X3 will also have a rear-wheel-drive model available in the US. However, the smaller SAV will be using a different engine though.
Whilst the bigger model uses a 3-liter petrol engine on its sDrive variant, the compact X3 will be going for a 2-liter unit that makes 245 HP and 350 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque, dubbed sDrive28i.
The new car will start at $39,325 with the destination and handling tax included and will go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds with the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
In Europe, the sDrive offering is more diverse though, including another petrol and a diesel model. There an sDrive20i version that uses a 2-liter 184 HP petrol unit and the sDrive18d that’s brand new and uses a 2-liter 150 HP diesel engine that’s supposed to be the most fuel efficient in the future line-up.
The LCI X3 will go on sale this spring as 2015 models in the US, with the official world debut to take place at Geneva alongside the 4 Series Gran Coupe.
