Power Wins Race at Barber

Will Power once again showed what he's made of on road courses in the IndyCar Series, as he eased to his first race victory this year on the Barber Motorsports Park this past weekend.

The Penske Racing driver enjoyed a perfect start and put as much as 3 seconds between him and teammate Ryan Briscoe in front of the field, maintaining a comfortable lead into the first round of pit stops.

Behind him, Briscoe only got to race in second place in the first stint, before Ganassi's Scott Dixon managed to pass in thanks to a quicker first pit stop. Later on, the Penske driver was also force to give up his 3rd place in the race following a wheel-to-wheel battle against the second Ganassi driver on the circuit Dario Franchitti.

Several incidents triggered some yellow flags in the first part of the race, causing DNFs for Newman/Haas' James Hinchcliffe, Andretti's Mike Conway and KV's Ernesto Viso. Briscoe was also forced to retire after only 58 laps, when Andretti's Ryan Hunter-Reay crashed into him and produced damage beyond repair to his car.

Following another mid-race flag caused by an incident between Dreyer & Reinbold's Justin Wilson and AFS's Raphael Matos, Power managed to emerge still on top spot, with Dixon at arm's length behind him and Franchitti further in the back.

The trio would eventually finish in the same positions, while 4th went to Marco Andretti. Oriol Servia and Tony Kanaan followed in the overall classification, while Helio Castroneves completed a troublesome afternoon in 7th place, a few tenths of a second behind Kanaan. The Top 10 was completed by Dreyer & Reinbold's Simon Pagenaud, making his first appearance in the IndyCar Series, HVM's Simona de Silvestro and Ganassi's Charlie Kimball.
