Potential Entries Remain Hopeful for 2010

Although the FIA revealed the official entry list for the 2010 Formula One Championship earlier today, it is yet to be seen whether the 13 teams will remain the same after June 19 or further changes will be made by the ruling body. The statement from the FIA clearly stated that “further due diligence is currently taking place on other potential entries,” as there were initially no less than 15 applications for potential F1 entries.

David Richards' Prodrive, Team Superfund, Lola Group and Team Lotus were only four of the outfits that were expecting a positive decision from the FIA to their 2010 applications. Nevertheless, with FIA announcing that 5 of the accepted teams have been granted with “provisional entries” until June 19th (BMW Sauber, Toyota, Renault, McLaren Mercedes and Brawn GP), hope is still in the air for the other F1 applicants.

We understand that in the event that any of the teams listed do not agree the terms imposed by the FIA, we are short-listed to fill any spots which become available,” said Team Lotus in a statement, earlier today.

We will wait to see how things develop in the next week, up to the 19th June deadline set by the FIA and we remain prepared and ready to implement our plans should the circumstances allow. As we have seen before, there are quite often many twists and turns in Formula 1,” added David Richards in an statement of his own.

There is a deadline on June 19, so there are a few days more of due diligence to do on the team entries. The FIA asked Team Superfund to be in a reserve position, and they will keep on talking to the team and then a decision will be made,” Superfund's owner Alexander Wurz was quoted as saying by British magazine AUTOSPORT.

The Lola Group acknowledges receipt of the communication from the FIA announcing the preliminary entry list for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship. The Lola F1 Team is not currently listed as an entrant, but will continue to remain in discussion with the FIA as a potential new entry until the extended deadline of 19 June, 2009,” said Lola Group in a statement.
