We know video blogging has experienced a boom over the last few years, but we didn’t expect this trend to reach car thieves. The videos below, which come from a British burglar, show that filming yourself while stealing a car might just become the next great thing on the web.
On a more serious note, we’ll mention the videos were posted online by the Gloucestershire Constabulary, with the aim of preventing other criminal activity of this kind.

The story started back in the Longlevens area of Gloucester, on January 11, 2015, with Jamie Lee Sharp, age 25, grabbing the keys to a Porsche Boxster after breaking into a house together with James Honeywell, his 26-year-old accomplice.

The two also stole a wallet, among others, but Sharp decided the mid-engined sportscar needed more attention, so he filmed himself with the vehicle.

The man crashed the sportscar during a drive through the city that followed the theft, with Honeywell fleeing the scene on foot. Sharp was trapped in the vehicle and ended up being caught by the police. He appeared in front of a judge and then sentenced to four years in jail after pleading guilty to multiple accusations, including burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, driving under the influence, driving while disqualified, as well as driving without insurance.

The most ironical side of the story

To make matters even more ironic, we are talking about the cheapest modern-day Porsche you can buy, namely a Boxster belonging to the first generation. Depending on the condition and mileage, one of these mid-engined Zuffenhausen machines will usually trade hands for between $6,000 and $11,000. And yes, they are great fun.

We advise you to pay attention to the two clips below - it’s not every day we get to see a Porsche... walkaround video of this sort.
