Porsche will kick of the 50th anniversary celebration of the iconic 911 sportscar this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the unveiling of the 1965 Porsche 911 Project 50 race car.
Since its conception in 1963, the Porsche 911 has won two third of Porsche's 30,000 racing victories, fitting then that they would build a racing car to celebrate its birthday.
Project 500 is built around the 1965 short-wheelbase 911 in right-hand drive and is powered by a 2-liter flat-six engine producing just 130 horsepower.
The car will be driven at numerous other European events this year, including Nürburgring OldTimer and Silverstone Classic. The Project 50 team will place some of the most famous Porsche racing drivers behind the wheel, like Richard Attwood (1970 Porsche Le Mans Winner) and Barry Horne (inaugural Carrera Cup GB Champion in 2003).
