Porsche Cayman RSR Rendering Released

Earlier today, we met the meanest Cayman Porsche has to offer, the R model, which is making its debut at the L.A. Auto Show. Compared to the Cayman S, the new version is lighter, thanks to the use of new components and the removal of certain items. The vehicle also comes with 10 extra hp and uses a modified suspension that allows it to ride closer to the road.

All this is fine, but we can’t help thinking that the Cayman’s potential could’ve lead to a much more interesting development. And here’s where the dream turns into a nightmare. Let us explain.

Ever since Porsche released the Cayman, it became obvious that the vehicle’t more balanced mid-engine layout could allow it to outperfrom the rear-engined 911. This is why the Germans chose to limit the Cayman’s performance and never let the car show what it can really do.

Returning to the Cayman R, we would’ve liked it to be more evil, but, knowing Porsche’s boundaries, we dind’t expected it to be. This means that now we are pretty disappointed.

In an effort to switch to a positive mood, we decided to search the web for a true extreme incarnation of the Cayman. We found the Cayman RSR, a virtual racecar based on the vehicle and immediately felt the need to share it with you. We have to mention that the dream became a (virtual) reality thanks to a web user nicknamed "Aaronp92988".

As this is a motorpsort vehicle, it doesn’t come with a street homologation, so it won’t affect the 911’s sales, But what if the car would be pitted against the 911’s racing incarnations? - oh no, we’re right back where we started.
