The Porsche 911 is like a good book. No matter how many times you read it, there’s still some new manner in which this fascinates you. The supercar’s latest feat has to do with its top speed and, apparently, Porsche was a bit shy with the official numbers.
When we drove the 991 911 Turbo S, the planet was not as generous as to offer us the conditions to test its maximum velocity. Well, the crew over at sport auto did and the result topped the official figure.

While Porsche claims the Turbo S can raise the speedometer needle up to 197.5 mph (318 km/h). As it turns out, nobody told the rear-engined coupe about this, so, when asked to perform, the car went past that.

207 mph (333 kp/h), this is how high the 911 Turbo S managed to jump. Sure the speedometer error is definetly here, but even if we take into account an educated guess of, say 4 mph (7 km/h), the feat is still impressive.

First of all, due to the simple reason that drag varies as the square of velocity. Besides, this all makes the difference between being in the 200 mph (322 km/h) club or not.

As for how long it took the 911 Turbo S to play the 0 to 186 mph (300 km/h) game, the aforementioned source managed a time of 31 seconds, while others have even managed to go below the 30-second mark. Since we’re talking numbers, we’ll also mention the forced induction flat six bearer needs under 10 seconds to complete the 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) sprint, while the all-marketed 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) run can be done in as little as 2.8 seconds. Long live Sport Plus!
