The most extreme incarnation of the 911 in history comes with 620 hp and 1,370 kg (3,021 lbs). Compared to the standard GT2 (if we can call it that way), the supercar offers a power premium of 90 hp and has lost 70 kg (154 lb), having a power to weight ratio of 2.21 kg per hp (4.9 lb per hp). The six cylinder boxer engine sends its power to the rear wheels via a six speed manual transmission. The power is transferred to the road using a set of bespoke 325/30 ZR 19 tires.
In a straight line, the figures can be translated into impressive acceleration times: 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 9.8 seconds and 0 to 300 km/h in 28.9 seconds. If the driver continues to push the car, it will reward him by reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.
The vehicle features a matching stopping power, provided by the PCCB composite ceramic braking system. The car’s other dynamic features include a sportier, RS set-up, for the springs, PASM Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management, anti-roll bars, as well as the dynamic engine mounts and PSM Porsche Stability Management.
Porsche has even made efforts to make the car greener: the RS version offers a 5 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, compared to the GT2, as it needs 11.9 liters for every 100 km (23.7 mpg imp), while emiting 284 grams of CO2/km.
The vehicle’s aerodynamics have been improved, as it uses an upgraded front spoiler lip and a rear spoiler made of reinforced carbon fiber, which is 10 mm higher (vs. GT2).
“In its looks the new 911 GT2 RS stands out clearly from the 911 GT2 above all through the lavish use of carbon-fiber-reinforced (CFR) components in matt-black surface finish, even wider wheels and flared wheel arches at the front, new 911 GT2 light-alloy wheels with central locking, as well as ”GT2 RS“ model designations on the doors and rear lid,” stated the press release.
The interior of the street racer features lightweight bucket seats that use carbon fiber reinforced plastic, lightweight door panels and door opening straps.
But the main asset of the GT2 RS is its handling, which is why we’ve saved the best for last: the supercar has apparently managed to record a Nurburgring Nordchleife time of seven minutes, 18 seconds, acoording to Porsche.
Only 500 units of the 911 GT2 RS will be built, with the vehicle entering the European market in September and the U.S. one in October. The price? 237,578 euros (in Germany).
