The UK Motorway Police is about to receive a new set of toys that will allow it to blitz the road while protecting the environment.

We are talking about the first Police-spec Jaguar XF, which will go on patrol across the Midlands. The Central Motorway Police Group, which patrols motorways across Staffordshire, Mercia and the West Midlands has acquired a fleet of seven Jaguar XF Diesel S vehicles, which are specially equipped for law enforcement.

The Police XF features a roof mounted light bar with 3,600 blue flashing lights and integrated side alley lights, blue and white flashing LED lights inside the front grille, side mounted blue flashing LED lights, blue and red flashing LED lights for the rear light clusters. In addition to that, the vehicle uses a Home Office-specification electronics “Police pack”, which includes a wide range of special equipment.

"Police drivers demand the very best from their vehicles – power, performance, safety and comfort are all very important, while their fleet managers are looking at good environmental credentials and strong residual values to ensure value for money,” said Geoff Cousins, Managing Director for Jaguar Cars UK. “Police forces across the country have been evaluating the XF and we are delighted that the team at the Central Motorway Police Group has chosen Jaguar to join its fleet.

The Jaguar XF Diesel S is powered by a 3.0 liter engine that delivers 275 hp and 601 Nm of torque. This pushed the saloon past the 62 mph mark in 5.9 seconds and offers it a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h), while returning a fuel consumption of 35 U.S. mpg (combined cycle) and emitting 179 grams of CO2 per km.
