Things have been moving quite fast for the reborn Italian bike maker Paton. While the announcement of restarting production was made back in early January this year, Paton is already announcing its entry in the 2014 edition of the legendary Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Lightweight race.
The Paton S1 Strada was race-prepped by former racer Steve Lindsell of Flitwick Motorcycles fame, and will be ridden by his son Olie. Paton has been collaborating for quite some time with the Bedfordshire-based modder, so choosing him to upgrade and tune the S1 was a natural choice. The Paton S1 is based on the Kawasaki ER-6n, so the house of Akashi structure and main components will be maintained under the Lightweight regulations.

However, Steve Lindsell knows his way around the garage pretty well, and equipped the Paton S1 Strada with dual Termignoni exhausts, magnesium Marvic wheels, ventilated TK brakes and Brembo racing rotors, plus plenty of other bits and pieces aimed at making the bike lighter and more competitive. Kaos Design created a racing livery to match the retro looks of the new Paton.

Mario Pagani, managing director of Paton was extremely happy as he added: "Racing in the Lightweight TT in the same year with the debut of our first road bike is something extraordinary, not only for the enormous effort that we made, but for the expectations of our fans and customers. And we will continue to take on such challenges, almost at any cost.”

No less than 4 versions of the Paton S1 will soon be available, with prices starting at €16,000 ($22,000). The top of the line S1 will set you back with €23,000 ($31,600). Via dueruote
