Opel/Vauxhall New Ad Agency For 2010 Meriva

After GM and Chrysler decided to change their advertising agencies and marketing strategy, Opel/Vauxhall aims to do the same for its upcoming Meriva model.

Amsterdam Worldwide international communications agency was appointed by Opel/Vauxhall to prepare the company's upcoming launch of the 2010 Meriva throughout Europe. The model will debut in March 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show.

The agency in question has worked with Opel/Vauxhall before, preparing the Opel Agila and Chevrolet Captiva pan-European media campaigns. The agency also won a media award for the work done for the Chevrolet Aveo.

Amsterdam Worldwide won the contract in a competition with three other advertising and communications agencies: McCann-Erickson, Lowe London and DLKW. The budget of the deal hasn't been disclosed yet.

"The Opel and Vauxhall brands have a great history and more importantly a great future. The new Meriva will be a key launch for the new Opel - and is a symbol of that exciting future. Opel is dedicated to bringing to the market innovations which have real benefits for car buyers, and the campaign we have developed with our "no borders" approach clearly reflects this," declared Brian Elliott, founder and chief executive of Amsterdam Worldwide.

Michael Hartwig, director of European marketing communications of Opel/Vauxhall, said: "Amsterdam Worldwide's approach to this brief demonstrated a clear understanding of the Opel brand and the target market,as well as unique insight about the role of the new Meriva. More than an ad, Amsterdam Worldwide developed an idea that is symbolic not only of a great new car in the Meriva, but of the new spirit at Opel."

The promoting campaign appears to focus on the car's flexibility and day-to-day practicability, as Amsterdam Worldwide will try to emphasize the "FlexDoors" system.
