Even thought the roundel on the bonnet of this Isetta claims that the manufacturer of this beast is BMW, there’s little of the original car still left in what I’m about to show you.
What you’re looking at here is a 1959 BMW Isetta turned dragster. Originally the little 2-seater had a 247cc engine with one cylinder that was capable of 13 HP. Now, the thing is on steroids, using a supercharged 502cid Chevy big block V8 that makes 730 HP, sent to the rear wheel through a 2-speed manual gearbox.

Of course, a lot of other changes were necessary to make this Bimmer drag race ready, including a roll cage, a new steering wheel, suspension (that came from an M3) a many many others.

In the end, it also earned a new nickname and is known around the US as “Whatta Drag”. The special dragster will be auctioned this weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Auction House in Scottsdale, Arizona. If you’re interested, you can find more info on their website.
