Sabine Schmitz, a German racing driver known as the Queen of The Nurburgring, is expected to star in the new Top Gear series on BBC.
The German driver has yet to be confirmed as part of the still unknown cast of the new BBC TV show, but people have put together rumors and statements that link Ms. Schmitz with the most watched automotive show. According to Sportscar365, the Frikadelli Porsche team manager has stated that Sabine Schmitz could take part in the Rolex 24-hour race on January 30, 2016.

Klaus Abbelen, the Frikadelli Porsche team administrator, made this statement referring to Sabine Schmitz after inquiries regarding her departure from the pilot roster for the Rolex 24 race at Daytona Speedway. The German driver was initially on the entry list, but previous engagements could not allow her participation in the race.

However, the team manager specified that Sabine could run at the endurance event depending on her “filming commitments” with Top Gear. Currently, the fastest sommelier in the world is in California, the same state where the new Top Gear team is allegedly filming the show’s first season.

Sabine Schmitz is a racer in the Frikadelli Porsche team and the Daytona event would be the first endurance event the VLN squad takes part in outside the famed Nurburgring. Schmitz and her colleagues race a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the VLN Endurance series held on the Nordschleife.

The 24 Hours of Daytona is considered one of the events that form the Triple Crown of endurance racing. The other two events that form this triple are the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. No racing driver has succeeded in winning all three events in the same year, while a few have won all three events in different years. Some of the names who succeeded in this endeavor include Jacky Ickx, Phil Hill, and Marco Werner.
