Motorcycle-loving auction house Bonhams has recently sold an 1966 Norton 350 Manx for £61,980, which is $100,066 or €72,733, almost double the money this bike was expected to bring.
This piece of road racing history actually saw its fair share of action, as it has been ridden by Joe Dunphy and Keith Heckles in the Isle of Man TT. Even more, the bike received some performance tuning from Francis Beart.
The auction house has traced the almost complete racing history of this bike and changes of ownership to the present day, and you can see the tumultous life it led by checking out its Bohams special page. Bonhams also offers "accompanying documentation consists of photocopies of Francis Beart's racing logbook, sundry motorcycling press articles, assorted correspondence and CRMC Machine Registration Certificate (Group 1, Period 1)."
According to the auction house, the engine was never started during the present ownership and may require some maintenance work before being ready to ride.
