Mercedes has finally transformed the CLS four-door coupe we all know and love into a cool wagon called the CLS Shooting Brake, which is supposed to combine the practicality of a five-door wagon body and the clean design of a coupe.
Despite the coupe ambitions, the CLS Shooting Brake is absolutely huge - 4,956mm (195.2 inches) long, 1,881mm (74.1 inches) wide and 1,413 mm (55.6 inches) tall.

So what about the practical side? Well, with the seats up, it offers 590 liters of boot space, which is less than the E-Class Wagon but more than basically all its rivals. The load area can be increases to a whopping 1,550 liter.

Mercedes customers will be able to choose from five interior colors and can also sped a wood floor for the luggage compartment from the designo range.

The engine range for the CLS Shooting Brake will be made up of four units. This includes a base diesel model, the CLS 250 CDI, powered by a four cylinder turbodiesel rated at 204 horsepower. Next up is the CLS 350 CDI, which gets the usual 3.0-liter V6 with 265 PS. In the petrol model range, there will be a 3.5-liter V6 with 306 PS at the bottom of the range. The top version will be the CLS 500 Shooting Brake, powered by the familiar 4.7-liter V8 twin-turbo with 408 PS. Both the top diesel, the 350 CDI, and the top petrol, the CLS 500, are available with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

Expect the CLS Shooting Brake to make its motor show debut in Paris at the end of September.
