New Mercedes Benz CLC to Be Unveiled at 2012 New York Show

The compact four-door coupe from German automaker has been causing a lot of commotion in the past couple of months, but it will all end with the full reveal of the model that is to take place in the spring of next year.
According to Inside Line, the CLC will be officially revealed at next year’s New Your Auto Show.

Not a lot is know about the model, except that it should be based on the same platorm as the new B-Class and that it will target younger buyers, presumably with a lower base price. A shooting brake version is also in the works right now.

We’ve already shown you the raw chassis of the car, which was reportedly being built in Hungary, though we don’t know if it's a mockup or a concept. The styling takes heavy inspiration from both the current CLS and the F800 concept from 2010’s Geneva Motor Show, which previewed the arrival of this new Merc.

As essentially a B-Klasse sedan, engine options are expected to include a 2.0-liter with 203 HP petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel with 172 HP. We know the ‘B’ sports some less-than-impressive 1.6-liter units as well, pumping 122 HP or 156 HP, though they might not be carried over. There’s also talk of a 109 HP diesel.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
