New Hyundai SUV Range at Frankfurt

Hyundai seems to be really keen on improving its European SUV lineup so it will showcase a refreshed range at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month. We already told you that the South Korean manufacturer will display the ix35 at the show, a model which is often referred to as the replacement of the successful Tucson. Besides the ix35, the company will also showcase the new Santa Fe, which comes with several improvements over the current model.

“SUVs have been a cornerstone of our success for many years and have helped to raise awareness of the Hyundai brand in Europe,” says Allan Rushforth, Vice-President of Hyundai Motor Europe. “With Tucson in particular we have demonstrated our expertise in producing SUVs which not only meet consumer expectations but also help to shape the sector itself.”

The ix35 is the first SUV entirely manufactured by Hyundai in Europe at the company's Frankfurt-based design and technical centers. It is based on the ix-onic concept and relies on a fuel efficient engine lineup but, more importantly, without neglecting performance or off-road ability at all.

The Santa Fe on the other hand will bring upgrades in almost every single area, including powertrain, steering and suspension.

“Building on these strong foundations, we expect to capitalize on the growing market demand for compact SUVs with the introduction of the new ix35 ? an efficient, Europe-focused model with real showroom appeal. It will join the ix55 and revised Santa Fe in a new-look range of SUVs, supporting the significant growth in market share we have achieved this year.”
