We think the new Daihatsu Copen is the best kei car around now; it has the looks, a simple clean interior that doesn’t lack modern features and best of all, it has a folding hardtop, all these in a 3.4 meter (113.8 inches) car that weighs 850 kg (1,874 lbs). And you know what? It can be even better with the D-SPORT touch.
There are no puns intended here, D-SPORT being something like TRD is for Toyota. And the tuning company recently showed up the “beefed” up version of the new Copen coupe-cabrio.

How do you make a small car that is already perfect for its purpose even better? Well, just like everyone does - “sportify” it even more. There are no engine mods available, because kei car and Japan, but it comes with many other amenities that will increase its sportiness.

Leaving aside the color and decals, D-SPORT offers lightweight alloy wheels, better filters, a sport tuned suspension, performance clutch and brake pads as well as front and rear cross braces to stiffen the body a bit more.

Inside, you’ll get a new shifting lever and a shift-up light mounted on the instrument cluster as well as two racing bucket seats, which seems enough to change the mood from coasting to apex hunting.

Price for the new mods have not been specified, with the kit following to be released later this fall.
