Motovan Corporation Recalls 5-Y.O. Zox Old School Half Helmets

Motovan Corporation and the NHTSA announce the recall of (so far) 198 Zox Old School XL helmets.
The affected braincaps have failed to conform to the impact attenuation and penetration requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) #218 and are deemed as unsafe.

NHTSA claims that wearing these helmets may not adequately protect the riders in the event of a crash. The affected lids have been manufactured in December 2008 and it's a complete mystery how come the recall is issued almost 5 years after they've been fabricated.

It's common knowledge that the lifespan of a helmet without crashes is about years and for more info on this you could check Jay Leno's documentary. What's even funnier is that "Motovan will attempt to notify owners via motorcycle consumer magazines since they have no record of the owners. The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development," the NHTSA recall campaign 13E029000 says.

We'd say it's better to contact Motovan at 1-450-449-3903 if you've bought a Zox XL braincap in 2008-2010.
