After stunning us with a more than eco-friendly new car, the MINI Cooper R, the Brits are back, looking after the most avid football fans out there that are already preparing for the 2014 World Cup.
Since the host of this year’s competition is Brazil, the Oxford designers decided to create a special edition model wearing the traditional blue, yellow and green colors of the South American country. They called it the MINI Paceman GoalCooper.

So, what does this new model bring? Well, as you probably already guessed by now, it’s based on the Paceman and has quite an interesting array of new functions.

Designer Oliviero Weilinho created the kit using astro turf floor mats in Brasileiro Green, while the ‘floodlights’ are done with MINI LEDs that give off a stadium feel. In the back, you get an universal holder for smartphones and one for Apple’s iPad devices. To entertain the passengers, a miniature table football set was installed in the center rail.

The best feature about it though, are the special reclining back seats that transform the boot into a goal using carefully placed nets. However, if you want to score, you’ll have to defeat the car’s Park Distance Control sensors that will detect the ball approaching and close the tailgate to make sure no ‘nasty’ ball gets through. That’s a true goalie!

After having a couple of attempts, you can share your results with your friends via a smart MINI Paceman GoalCooper MINI Connected App that uses the backseat iPad to communicate over the internet. You can then start a competition between yourselves and the rest of the world and, a worldwide table is created on a daily basis showcasing the results of every player around the globe, at the end of the tournament a MINI Community World Champion being handed over the trophy.

This new model was unveiled today April 1, 2014 but the rest of the details like the transfer fee and contract periods are still hush-hush.
