The very rare Isdera Imperator 1081 is a Mercedes-powered German supercar of the 1980s with a pretty interesting background.
Closely-based on the CW 311 Studie, a Mercedes-Benz forgotten concept car from 1978, the first ever road-going Isdera car is technically a Mercedes that its parent company didn't want to manufacture themselves.
Kind of like the ugly duckling, although its interesting appareance shouldn't qualify it with having such a bad image.
Just 30 units of the odd-looking supercar with a periscope rearview mirror were ever produced, only few of which being manufactured with an engine tuned by AMG, like the one in the following video.
Production started in 1984 and ended nine years later, with 28 cars being sold on the Old Continent. This trivia fact makes the following European footage even more impressive, since its not very often that we see such a rare car being driven so... let's not say reckless, but on the edge at least.
