This is a big day in the history of the Mercedes GL, as the vehicle gets an AMG version for the first time, with the German carmaker introducing the GL63 AMG. Up front, we get the new AMG 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo powerplant, which delivers 557 hp and a peak torque of 760 Nm (560 lb-ft). This is mated to an AMG Speedshift 7-Speed automatic gearbox, which sends the power to all four wheels.
Thus, the full-size SUV manages to play the 0 to 62 mph game in 4.9 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited at 155 m[h (250 km/h). As for the stopping power, this comes from an AMG high-performance system that uses four perforated rotors with a size of 15.4 x 1.4 inches (front) and 13.6 x 1.0 inches (rear).
Of course, the GL63 AMG also comes with a special body kit, which includes a front fascia with massive air intakes, and a rear fascia that houses four bold tailpipes, with the vehicle riding on 21-inch rims with 295/40 rubber.
Mercedes hasn’t announced the pricing for the GL63 AMG, but we can tell you that this will reach the European market in November and land is US showroom in the first quarter of next year.
