Scheduled to be introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA is being tested as we speak in the heat of Death Valley.
The info was recently tweeted by Mercedes-Benz America president and CEO, Steve Cannon, who also posted a photo of the camouflaged vehicle, the first one since we saw the videos showing a couple of prototypes in Dubai.
“Another day In Death Valley! 110 degrees but this new model coming next year will be hotter!” said Steve Cannon in the tweet.
Looking closely at the photo you’ll notice that the GLA is accompanied by its future rival, the BMW X1. A comparison we’re all anxious to find out more about when the Stuttgart-developed crossover arrives next year.
As a reminder, the Mercedes-Benz GLA will be underpinned by the company’s front-wheel drive MFA platform, also used for the A-Class and B-Class models.
