Mercedes Benz Teases Consumers on the SLS AMG Driving Experience

The marketing team at Mercedes-Benz will be kept busy this summer, as the company announced it plans to offer fans of the brand a chance to experience the new Gullwing. Since chances to book a test drive are close to zero, experiencing the SLS AMG will become a reality just for few.

Fans will therefore be given the opportunity to drive the super sports car around famous European racetracks including Hockenheim and Spa, to be driven in the car by former Formula 1 and current DTM racer David Coulthard, or to tackle the Top Gear test track. According to Mercedes-Benz, further experiences will be unveiled every few weeks throughout the summer.

“Subtle links to a number of 'rare chances to experience the SLS AMG' entry forms are hidden on the Internet and out in the real world. And they can only be found by looking a little deeper into the SLS AMG online…,” a company statement reads, inviting enthusiasts to search for the clues.

By accessing the following link, fans will be able to start their search. Here they can sign up for updates via email, SMS, Facebook and Twitter.

The SLS AMG, premiered at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, is propelled by a 6.3-litre V8 engine, developing 571 hp. The unit is mated to a double-clutch AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed transaxle-mounted sports transmission, which offers the driver a choice of four different driving modes: "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport plus) or "M" (Manual) along with a RACESTART function.

These features allow it to sprint from naught to sixty in 3.8 seconds, before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 197 mph (317 km/h).
