With the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class drawing closer, sales of the current model might be slowing down a little since everybody's waiting for the new car.
However, the Coupe and Cabriolet version might take a little longer to reach us than the standard saloon, so those fancying a two-door open- or close-top Mercedes-Benz E-Class experience might have to settle for the current model for now.

That's probably why Mercedes-Benz has launched two new special editions called 'Sport Edition' and 'V8 Edition'. In all honesty, the differences they bring are not that spectacular, but that doesn't change the fact they're special edition vehicles and that usually means more goodies for less money.

Starting with the 'Sport Edition', this brings minor stylistic exterior changes like the new front apron with distinctive air inlets, a glossy black accent on the radiator grille and more muscular side sill. At the back, there's a diffuser-like bumper, a spoiler lip in the same color as the body and a set of trapezoidal exhausts.

The sporty nature is further endorsed by the AGILITY CONTROL sports suspension with sporty spring and damper tuning as standard, plus perforated front brake discs hidden behind 18-inch AMG alloy wheels. All these changes are announced via "Sport Edition" badges on the two front wings.

The interior received even more attention, with black leather multicontour seats with contrast stitching, while the accents can be finished in high-gloss black ash, black piano lacquer or dark textured-grain aluminium. The three-spoke steering wheel is finished in nappa leather, a sporty look carried over by the silver paddle-shifters and the aluminium pedals with rubber studs.

Finally, to wrap it all up, a special paint finish in brilliant blue metallic is available exclusively for these special edition models.

While the 'Sport Edition' can be ordered with any of the engines currently available for the E-Class, the 'V8 Edition', as the name suggests, can be only be had with the 408hp V8 found on the E500.

It comes with pretty much everything the 'Sport Edition' has to offer, and then builds on that with titanium gray-painted 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloys, flat-bottomed steering wheel with porcelain or classic red stitching and perforated area.

You can read more about the two special models in the press release below, but sadly there's no info on either prices or availability. If you're interested, however, your best bet would be to contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealer.
