In order to cater most engine tastes and a wider range of pocket sizes, the Mercedes-Benz GLA (X156) crossover/SUV is available just a few weeks after its launch with no less than five different engine choices, two gearboxes and two different types of traction.
Despite this, we're willing to bet that there are still plenty of people out there who were captivated enough to want a new GLA but are lacking the necessary moolah for actually buying one.
While we are willing to bet that the real life car will be sold in much higher numbers, Mercedes-Benz also unveiled three different scale model variants of the GLA, each of them being manufactured din collaboration with renowned die cast makers Norev, Schuco or Herpa.
Sporting original pain finishes from the Mercedes-Benz range and assembled by hand, the three types of GLA miniatures will be available in either 1:18, 1:43 or 1:87 scale and have been created using the original vehicle's CAD data.
The largest GLA miniature model is at a 1:18 scale, built by Norev and hand-assembled from over 100 individual parts, with the body itself being zinc injection-moulded. As with most 1:18 scale models out there, all the doors, luggage compartment hatch and the engine hood can be opened. Its suggested retail price for Germany is EUR 69.90, including 19 percent VAT.
Made by Schuco from over 55 individual parts and supplied in a base-mounted box, the 1:43 scale Mercedes-Benz GLA comes in either South Sea Blue, Jupiter Red and Cirrus White and has a suggested retail price of EUR 29.90 including 19 percent VAT.
The smallest scale model is made by Herpa from more than 25 individual plastic parts, with the 1:87 scale model coming in either Cosmos Black, Mountain Grey Magno or Jupiter Red. Its suggested retail price is EUR 15.90 including 19 percent VAT in Germany. All three scale models are available either online or from the usual Mercedes-Benz sales partners.
