Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse Launched in India

Mercedes Benz India has launched the G-Wagen which is short for Geländewagen (cross country vehicle) at the Juhu Aerodrome in Mumbai. The vehicle which is widely known as the G-Klasse on the global market, is arriving in the Asian country in the form of the AMG tuned G55.

The G55 is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 under the bonnet, which develops 500 hp at 6,000 rpm. The vehicle accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.5 seconds, which is quite an achievement for something that tips the sales at about 2.5 tons.

As well as the standard equipment that features on many Mercedes-Benz road cars, constant innovation in the Mercedes-Benz G-Class range offers high-performance driving dynamics, but, also supreme off road ability. ESP and 4ETS both ensure maximum traction, handling and stability on any terrain and the 100 per cent locking differentials, permanent all-wheel drive and off-road ratios prove their worth off the beaten track, making the Mercedes G-Class world class in any off road condition.

"Despite Mercedes-Benz G-Class being the longest-serving passenger car series in the history of Mercedes-Benz, we are delighted to welcome it as a 'new model' in right hand drive for UK customers. The long wheelbase version in particular blends style, technology, practicality, impeccable build quality and unbeatable off-road credentials in a shape that is as seductive today as it was when originally launched,
” Dermot Kelly, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz describes the car.

The G-Klasse will come as a Completly Buit-up Unit and has been priced at INR11million or about $242,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai).
