The car with the longest production span in Mercedes-Benz history just got a rather well-put together review from the Brits at XCAR.
With the first civilian version of the G-Class first exiting the Graz plant back in 1979 and the car to remain in production until at least 2019, it will be the first and most likely the only three-pointed star vehicle to have an uninterrupted production of over four decades.
During its Methuselah-like in car years lifespan, the iconic Mercedes-Benz off-roader has added quite a great deal of features to its military vehicle CV, with various versions of the model being added or subtracted from it over the years.
In recent times, the AMG variants have been taking over the spotlight, making some people believe that the only G-Wagen worth buying has to have at least 500+ hp, but the truth is there are currently four engine versions, half of which are sporting Affalterbach powertrains.
XCAR decided to take a G-Class for a spin, choosing the only diesel available, the G 350 BlueTec. Their review is sprinkled with quite a lot of bits of history and Gelandewagen-related anecdotes, so we rather enjoyed it, despite not featuring the mighty G 63 AMG version.
