As an innovator in the field of car safety, German auto maker Mercedes Benz was forced to expand the technology it currently features in some of its high end models to the little guys, and now with the market debut of the fresh B-Class compact people mover, we can see the fruits of their labors.
In a funny little commercial they called ‘Ice Princess’, Mercedes tries to highlight the advantages of their Collision Prevention Assist system. The new B-Class also sports radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist as standard, which lowers the risk of rear-end collisions, a first in this segment. Also, Pre-Safe preventive occupant protection system on the new B is also available for the first time in this vehicle category.
As a reminder, we’ll tell you that the B-Class’s petrol engines come with a 1.6-liter displacement, as the B 180 with 122 hp/200Nm and the B 200 with 156 hp/250 Nm. As for the new four-cylinder diesel engines, we’ll get the B 180 CDI with 109 hp/250Nm and the B 200 CDI with 136 hp/300 Nm.
