Meet Britain’s Safest Driver!

He may be a bit older than some might think and his reflexes may not be that sharp anymore, but 99-year-old George Geeson can be considered the safest driver in Britain. In 84 years of driving, Mr Geeson has never had a speeding ticket or caused an accident during nearly one million miles at the wheel.

He first drove a Model T Ford in 1925 when, aged 15, he just got his driving license. Ten years later he bought his first car, a Wyllis-Overland Whippet. After owning 17 cars and nearly one million miles at the wheel, Mr Geeson has been involved in only one accident, when another driver crashed into the rear end of his car.

''I have always said to myself if I stay on the right side of the law I've no reason to be scared of anyone or anything,” Mr Geeson was quoted as saying by the telegraph.co.uk. ''We used to think that 60mph was very fast but now people seem to drive at 100mph and that's too fast for me. 'I've always been careful. Even the one accident I did have was down to somebody else."

According to the aforementioned source, Mr Geeson owned the following automobiles:

  • 1935 - blue Willys-Overland Whippet
  • 1937 - black Ford 8 saloon
  • 1939 - black Ford Anglia 'standard'
