British racing team McLaren may be looking to enter FIA’s new all-green Formula E, a racing series where only all-electric open-wheeled cars are allowed. The series debuts in 2014 and is a real breath of fresh air (literally), in a sport overcrowded with gas-guzzling racing cars.
According to Martin Whitmarsh, head of McLaren’s F1 effort, “Who knows, we might pop up in it [. . .] I think it’s a good initiative and we’d be delighted in whatever form to be involved with it." When asked in a concrete fashion if a McLaren car will ever grace the starting grid of such a race, Whitmarsh replied "At some point, yes. But that’s not at the moment."

We say the big manufacturers will want to get involved in this image-boosting sport, which will not only delight the green activists and give their cars a more green air. McLaren will undoubtedly enter this sport at some point, given the fact that they are at the cutting edge of automotive technology.
