Massa Enjoys Love-Making Pre-Race Ritual

An unwritten rule of sports states that any sportsman should avoid spending... “quality time” with his wife or girlfriend a day or two before his challenge on the battle field. And the explanation would be that it helps the man focus strictly on his preparation, and therefore improve his mental state ahead of the game/match/race etc.

The fact that not many sportsmen live by this rule is  commonly known. And Felipe Massa is the last to confirm it, after admitting in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport that not only he occasionally spends time with his wife Raffaela the night before the race, but in time, he made that a ritual.

On the Saturday night before the race I always have sex,” said the 30-year old in the aforementioned interview. Asked to elaborate on the story, the Brazilian settled for admitting he very much enjoys his post-quali ritual, “even though I know it doesn't make me faster!

Felipe Massa is married to 33-year old Raffaela since 2007, and have a one-year old son Felipinho (Felipe Bassi Massa), born in late November 2009.

We bet Massa would find it hard to let go of his Saturday night ritual any time soon, but he should at least give it a try, considering that he hasn't won a race in the Great Circus in more than 2 years. His last victory dates back to the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix, a sad one nonetheless, considering that he then lost the chance to become world champion by a single point.

Referring to more serious stuff, like the Scuderia's performance package for the 2011 season, Massa admitted he is very enthusiastic with the updates introduced in Turkey, which have “definitely increased our performance level.” Ferrari are expected to debut new parts at each race this season, aiming to further close the gap on rivals Red Bull.
